A neurofeedback session typically lasts 45 minutes, and is performed several times per week based on the individual’s plan of treatment, determined by the health practitioner. Electrodes are placed on the scalp, via gel, allowing both the technician and the client to observe brain wave activity on the computer screen. Brainwave activity is then picked up by the computer and processed. The individual can then “see” and “hear” their brain activity through images and sound, all done through real time.

Neurofeedback is a form of biofeedback, using brain waves, which allows people to “reboot” and balance the electrical circuitry of their brain to perform at optimum levels, through self- guided regulation. Clients can improve their breathing, blood pressure, sugar levels, attention and memory. This is all accomplished without the use of prescription medication, or additional therapy.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Research studies have shown that neurofeedback has been effective in helping to treat organic disorders such as autism, cerebral palsy and seizures. In addition, numerous neuropsychological/neuropsychiatric disorders, such as depression, PTSD, ADD, ADHD, anxiety, sleep disorders, headaches and migraines have all been shown to have dramatic improvements.
Neurofeedback works by providing individuals real time visuals on their brain activity. Through video games, music or movies, desired brain activity is rewarded and undesirable ones are inhibited. Neurofeedback technicians monitor the sessions, challenging the clients to reach new levels of desired brain activity. Sessions are downloaded weekly and interpreted by our health practitioners to identify which areas of the brain need improvement, or if optimization has been reached.
