On Thursday evening, February 25, 2010, at the Penn Club of New York, the International Brain Research Foundation (IBRF) will host its Fifth Anniversary Celebration of Excellence in Brain Research and Treatment.

The IBRF Heroes Award will be bestowed upon three very special heroes who have devoted their lives to the service of others and who have demonstrated strength and perseverance to overcome severe injury and adversity. These recipients include Nassau County Police Officer Kenneth Baribault, United States Army First Lieutenant Brian Brennan of New Jersey, and New York City Firefighter Jeremy Riddle.

In the spotlight for this evening, Founder of IBRF, Chief Executive Officer, and Chief Scientific Officer, Dr. Philip DeFina will recognize the valuable works and outstanding support for our wounded military warriors provided by United States Representative Joseph Crowley, Seventh District, New York.

On hand will be Honorary Chair of this event, United States Representative Bill Pascrell, Jr., Eighth District, New Jersey, who co-founded and co-chairs the Congressional Brain Injury Task Force.

Buddy Valastro, The Cake Boss, will unveil a special cake for this celebration. Major sponsors of the event include Hudson Clean Energy Partners of Teaneck, New Jersey and London, England, and Robert A. Plafsky, Esquire.

IBRF is a 501c3 public charity with a multifaceted mission of advancing cutting-edge brain discoveries for application in diagnosis and treatment.
